Top Tango singer on new European soloist tour
One of Argentina’s finest tango vocalists, Martín Alvarado, will be on his 45 th International Soloist tour since June 6th until september the 1 st. (next tour, including USA and Finland, will be held during october and november)
At the moment he has confirmed concerts in Finland, Malta, Spain and Italy and there are booking to get confirmed in the next days.
The globe-trotting tango troubadour, who is world renowned for his stunning tenor voice and sublime performances, will be singing rarely heard Piazzolla songs as well as some of his own compositions and some tango and South American classics.
He will give some of the concerts accompanying himself on acoustic guitar and will also be joined by different internationally renowned musicians like Finnish Jazz stars like Eero Koivistoinen (sax) and Alexi Tuomarila (piano); Mikko Helenius (bandoneon and piano); italian pianist Fabrizio Mocata and Argentinian bandoneon player Walter Hidalgo, in the different countries he will perform in.
His UK manager and promoter, Lisa Cherry-Downes, said: ”I knew as soon as I heard Martin sing at one of my events in 2011 that he had something special about him – he just has that ’wow factor’ that you don’t come across very often”.
”As well as his amazing voice, he also has shed loads stage presence and charisma – his live performances can have you laughing one minute and crying the next. I have never come across an artist who demolishes the language barrier in quite such an emotional way. He mesmerises you. No two concerts are ever the same”.
Alvarado added: ”I am really looking forward to tour Europe again – I have had wonderful audiences there who have shown great interest and respect in what I do – and also in tango singing which is perhaps not what most people think of in when they hear the word tango. But in fact in Argentina more people listen to tango than dance it and the poetry is an important aspect of this culture in my homeland.
The Buenos Aires-born artist has won wide acclaim for his exceptional voice, and is increasingly being recognised as one of the most significant vocalists in the history of tango, celebrated both in the media and by his peers who have called him ”the best voice in Buenos Aires” and ”21st Century voice of tango”.
In Russia earlier this year, he performed in front of 8000 people at the Kremlin Palace Concert Hall in Moscow and 4000 at Oktyabrskiy Theatre in Saint Petersburg. He has also performed at other major venues in Finland, and Spain. In 2013 he won the Latin UK Award for Concert by International Artist of the Year and had his last album released by one of the leading world music record labels – UK based Riverboat Records, part of the World Music Network stable of labels which include the ”Rough Guide to …” titles.
He discovered his talent to sing at the age of 19, by chance, while studying guitar in Buenos Aires. A few years later he travelled to Spain where he was spotted singing in the street in Barcelona and invited to perform in Finland, where tango is a national pastime. News of his talent quickly spread and within two months of arriving there, he was performing with the Tampere Philharmonia Orchestra.
He has since released six albums and currently working on seven more already recorded in Argentina, Finland and Italy.
