Kuvassa Matti Hussi ja Lahti Big Bandin saksofonistit.

5.8. klo 19:00 21:00

Lahti Big Band feat. Matti Hussi

The legendary Jimmy Smith died in 2005 having popularized the Hammond B-3 organ and created a link between jazz and soul music. The high point was a 1964 album The Cat which reached number 12 on the Billboard chart.

Lahti Big Band’s conductor Erno Tiittanen has made some changes in Lalo Schifrins original instrumentations and arrangements. True to the original recording French horns and tuba are heard alongside ordinary big band instruments.

Matti Hussi follows in Jimmy Smith’s footsteps as concert’s soloist. Together with Lahti Big Band he also pays a tribute to Oliver Nelson, Johann Sebastian Bach and the legacy of the Hammond organ, first time produced 90 years ago in 1935.
